How long does SMS (10DLC) approval take?

Calls work within about thirty seconds of getting a number, but texting needs 10DLC (A2P) approval first. If everything is in order, SMS approval usually takes one to three days.

Before your application goes to the carriers, an AI agent reviews it for common problems, such as a privacy policy link that is missing or not clickable. If the carriers find a problem, a manual review can take a week or two to tell you what to fix, and another week or two after you reply. Getting your website and privacy policy right before you submit keeps approval fast.

If you are an agency, Votel recommends not leading with texting as the star of your offer, because a client who signs up and is told to wait has a bad first experience. Lead with AI calling, which is live within a minute, and the other tools, and set expectations: SMS is included, and once it is approved you flip the switch and texting turns on.
